Business-building ideas and advice to move you forward faster.
It’s easy to get caught up in and overwhelmed by all the New Year’s resolution hype that’s been swirling around lately and then brush off making concrete plans for your business. But you need to have a big vision, and just thinking about it isn’t enough; you need a plan.
It’s the second week of January. Do you still have that niggly feeling you really need to complete your 2024 planning?
…
This is particularly top of mind for me right now because it’s coming up to my four-year Ash-iversary; I began my career at
Ash Brokerage four years ago. And I’m used to measuring things in four-year cycles. It’s what I worked to when I was training for the 1984 and 1988 Olympics.
I remember in early February going out to dinner with Mike and Alisa McLaughlin, and Mike mentioned to me, “What do you see happening and developing over the next several years?” I love those kinds of questions because that’s just how I think. So I mentioned, “Well, from 2020 to 2024, here’s what I’m thinking. From 2024 to 2028, maybe we develop these particular ideas, and then from 2028 to 2032 (which at that stage seemed a long way off) here’s what I’m thinking, if you guys will still have me around.” I resonate with that kind of thinking. Now, I get it: not everyone does.
But I want to talk about the need for you to have a bigger picture of your business, especially this year. As I mentioned, it’s memorable for me and my relationship with Ash. It’s also Olympic year, and for a number of people all around the world who are going to be competing in Paris later this year, the calendar flip from December 31, 2023, to January 1, 2024, changed everything. It’s Olympic year! December 20 last year they were still talking about “next year, next year, next year.” Now it’s now: it’s seven months away. And so we see how quickly time moves.
We have been seeing a load of information out there on social media talking about planning, talking about S.M.A.R.T goals, talking about a number of different ways to think about the objectives that you have…write them down, then list your steps. I get it: sometimes it can be overwhelming. Sometimes there can be so much noise, we never get out of the gate to start with, and we just brush it off. However, the year is moving quickly, and if you’re serious about where you want to be by December 31, 2027, you need to take time to set down a plan.
I mentioned, “if you’re serious about it.” Anyone can think about winning these Olympic medals. That’s easy. Every athlete who has Olympic aspirations thinks about it. The key is carrying on and putting the dreams into actionable steps.
Normally at the start of each year, I do a four-week series talking about TARGET goals, the Distraction-Proof Pathway, and we do four video posts. This year, I’m not doing that. Instead, you can connect with me personally on LinkedIn or email me at Paul.Kingsman@AshBrokerage.com, and I will send you out those details. I’m happy to walk through these details with you so you can begin setting not only a great 2024 objective, but relating it to where you want to be by the end of 2027.
So, if you’re sitting there starting to get excited about what could be at the end of 2027 and want to maximize 2024 to begin with,
If you’re serious about what you want to achieve in four year’s time, and therefore what you want to achieve by this year-end, connect with me. I’ll send you these details, and we’ll start on a journey that will have you achieving your objectives and have you achieving the choices you want within four years, starting right now, with the beginning of this year.
